Unabridged birth certificates (copie intégrale), short-form/abridged birth certificates and international short-form/abridged birth certificates (extrait international) are issued by the commune of the place of birth. Applications for certified copies may be submitted in-person, online, by post or by phone. Certificates are available to the person named in the certificate and parents.

The marriage certificate is always filed in the Luxembourg commune where the civil wedding ceremony took place. A copy or an extract of this certificate can be obtained by either spouse from the Communal Administration online, in person, by phone or by mail.

The copy or extract of a death certificate is a reproduction in full or in part of the details indicated on the death certificate. A relative of the deceased can request a death certificate. Depending on the commune, requests for death certificates can be submitted in person to the civil registrar’s office, online; by post or by phone.

Certified copies of Luxembourg corporate certificates and certificates of good standing can be ordered online. Documents are available in French or German, and can be issued digitally or as certified paper copies. These include:

  • Negative Certificate (certificat négatif): this certificate may serve as a certificate of good standing. It confirms that no judicial decision or administrative dissolution without liquidation has been registered against the company.
  • Company Profile (extrait): provides a summary of all data which must be registered with the RCS by the company. The company profile is updated to reflect all information as contained within the registered entity’s file.
  • Registration Certificate: A certified copy of a company's initial registration.
  • Certified copies of other Luxembourg business documents that have been filed with with the Luxembourg Business Register (RCS), including company articles of association and annual accounts.

Luxembourg criminal record extracts (Service du Casier Judiciaire) in Luxembourg city. Extracts are issued in French.

Any person over 18 years of age who is a Luxembourg national or resides in Luxembourg can request an extract from their criminal record. Non-Luxembourg nationals must provide proof of their residency (residence permit or certificate of registration).
